The windows revealed

They finished putting on the decorative mouldings yesterday and I’m left with mixed feelings.

See if you can see what I see.

There is exposed face brick between the decorative moulding (or external architrave) and the window itself.

We hadn’t anticipated the exposed window reveal!

We took it for granted that the entire window reveal and the moulding would be flush and painted in the same colour for a clean look.

The window on the rendered part of the facade is exactly what we had anticipated.

I’m told it’s now too late to do anything about it, and Mark isn’t even sure there’s a feasible option to fix this after handover. Simply rendering the window reveal won’t be a good fix as the cement would then cover some of the window.

Mark thought I was overthinking it.

What do you think?

  1. Hi Charmaine,

    Unfortunately not.

The fix would be render the window reveal and paint it the same colour as the moulding.

I suppose whether we do this or not depends on how much it bothers us in the future. And possibly how many comments we get from people saying “Why is there exposed brick between your window and your moulding?”
